The 2026 NY Metro Abilities Expo is officially a wrap!

After three full days in New Jersey, the USVHA team is heading home with croaky throats, tired eyes, and a lot of momentum! Between networking, sneaking in some impromptu practice time, and introducing new people to volt hockey, it was a packed and energizing weekend.

Events like the Abilities Expo are a cornerstone of our work. They give us the chance to meet people where they are, whether that is individuals with disabilities looking to get involved in sport, families searching for community, or organizations doing incredible work in adaptive recreation. Every conversation helps grow awareness of volt hockey and brings us one step closer to getting more athletes out on the court.

One of the best parts of the weekend was reconnecting with familiar faces. We loved spending time with our friends at EmpowerSCI and the Philadelphia Powerplay power hockey team, catching up with standout athletes from last summer’s training clinic, and continuing to build relationships across the adaptive sports space, including getting to spend time with the one and only Cory Lee of Curb Free with Cory Lee!

We also had a great full circle moment running into the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Their support through a grant we received last year helped us purchase the volt hockey chair we brought to the expo! Being able to showcase the sport using that equipment and introduce new people to it was a meaningful reminder of how that support directly translates into access and opportunity.

The Abilities Expo is always a highlight on our calendar, and we are already looking ahead. Next stop is Chicago, where we will be exhibiting for the first time next month! We are excited to keep building momentum, meeting new people, and continuing to expand volt hockey across the country.

If you stopped by our booth this weekend, thank you for being part of it. And if you are new to volt hockey, this is just the beginning! ⚡🏒
