USVHA Brings Volt Hockey to the Chicago Abilities Expo

We had an awesome weekend at the Abilities Expo in Chicago for the first time, introducing hundreds of attendees to the fast-paced world of volt hockey!

Our booth and demo area stayed busy throughout the entire event, with a record-breaking number of people getting into volt hockey chairs and trying the sport for themselves. Marley may have gotten her month's worth of practice in over the course of three days, as she and her parents spent much of the weekend running demonstrations and helping newcomers experience volt hockey firsthand. Meanwhile, the Melam sisters kept the booth running smoothly, answering questions, sharing information about the sport, and helping visitors learn how they can get involved.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to SureHands for their support throughout the weekend! Their lift system helped make transfers quick, safe, and efficient, allowing even more people to get into chairs and take part in the demonstrations.

Most exciting of all, the weekend generated significant interest in the future of volt hockey in the Midwest! We met athletes, families, volunteers, and supporters from across the region and are leaving Chicago with a growing list of people interested in joining and supporting a future Chicagoland volt hockey team.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, took a shot on goal, asked questions, or cheered on the participants. Events like the Abilities Expo help us introduce volt hockey to new communities, build connections, and continue growing the sport across the United States. We look forward to returning to Chicago and sharing more updates as plans for a local team continue to take shape!
